I love the idea that chatbot AIs will be able to tell detailed and realistic stories some day soon. Some of the more advanced chatbots are already able to engage in cooperative storytelling with a single player or a small group.
Imagine a tabletop roleplaying game where everyone sits around a table with a screen and a microphone at the gamemaster’s seat. The players worked together to design the world. They submit their characters to the AI, along with a list of plots they would like to see.
Music begins to play, the screen lights up with game-related artwork, and the AI begins narrating the campaign’s introduction.
I have heard that this amazing dream isn’t so far away. I decided to play a game with one of the free AIs available on the internet to see how far we’ve already come.
